SDS YEAR IN REVIEW - THE BEST MOMENTS OF 2019

What an amazing year. We’ve had some incredible studio moments this year and would love to reflect on the magical times we’ve had this year. It started off with a huge enrolment at the start of the year. Our studio has been busier than ever this year.

During January we had a workshop with Oriana Siewkim who tested our students with a different style.

In March we made our Moomba debut with a Kung Fu Fighting routine. We will be back next year to do this again.

April we watched Superhoodz give Box Hill their Chance to Dance with a week long interactive dance performance during school holidays.

Later that month, we filmed Your Chance to Dance for the ABC with our students dancing for the cameras and Kat & Troy mentoring a family to learn to dance. You can still watch this on ABC catch up TV.

In May we held our Disney themed trivia night to help our USA tour students raise some funds. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the SDS Community and managed to raise $5000.

June was a busy time for us starting with a workshop from Kanec who brought his LA experience to us. We held another successful Mid-Year showcase which was our biggest one yet.

June was finished off by celebrating Kat’s 30th Birthday!

July was the month our SDS Mega Crew had been waiting for. They spent 8 months rehearsing, busking, and fundraising for our USA tour. What an amazing experience dancing at Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard and Knottsberry Farm not to mention the workshops at Millenium and Disneyland. The amazing memories will be held forever.

Once we got back, it was back to business with our crews performing at the NBL1 Grand Finals and scoring a permanent gig with Southside Flyers WNBL team for the summer season.

In September Kat and Troy developed and hosted their first Victorian Primary School Dance Competition with huge success. Also in September we performed at the Royal Melbourne Show for their first ever parade.

October started with our 2nd SDS Hip Hop competition. We were so proud of all the self-choreographed routines and effort the students went to.

December seen Kat and Daniel finally get ENGAGED!!!! Bring on the wedding. We finished off the year in style with another amazing Showcase.

This is just a brief list of what we have achieved this year. It doesn’t include all the fetes, festivals, basketball games and community days we have participated in. We are so proud of all of our students and the dedication and love for dance they show us every day. We love you all.

Don’t forget our Open Day on January 18 and classes resume January 20.

BRING ON 2020!!!!!
